*Our Story*
Jake and I met in the spring of 2004 when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore in college. He was a member of a fraternity at Iowa State University while I attended Augsburg College in MN. We crossed paths at a fraternity party on the U of M campus that Jake just happened to be at with his chapter of the frat. We hit it off right away and ended up exchanging information at the end of the night.
Not expecting it, Jake contacted me after he got back to Iowa and we continued chatting daily and eventually it evolved into a real relationship. Over the next 4 years, we maintained a long-distance relationship, taking turns every other weekend driving to see each other.
In 2008, I realized that if they were serious about moving forward in our relationship, we needed to live in the same state, so I made the move down to Iowa to be with Jake. It was the best decision I'd made and was so happy to be with the one I loved!
After 2 years of living together on March 13, 2010, Jake proposed to Me in a way that blew me away. It was a typical Saturday-I was working at my part-time job at the YMCA. Little did I know, but Jake had jumped into action getting everything ready the minute I walked out of the door. When I got back home, I opened the door to find Jake on one knee with a beautiful ring in hand! He had the whole place lit with candles and keepsakes he'd kept the entire 7 years we'd been dating. (Movie tickets, cards, pictures, gifts, etc). He also had the first meal I had ever cooked for him, and the first movie we'd watched together playing. Through my tears and amazement, I of course said, "Yes!".
